Nail fungus, which distorts the shape and appearance of the nail, and in some cases causes odor, often occurs when a skin fungus infects the nail. This transmission can be through direct spread, as well as through itching of the fungal area, it can be transmitted to the fingernail, and from there to other places.

The incidence of nail fungus is 20 times higher than that of toenail fungi. The fungus often appears on the thumb nail. Nail fungus, which can lead to complaints in the form of cracking and thickening of the end parts of the nail, sometimes spilling like flour from the end part of the nail, can also cause streaking, color changes and layer lifting in different shapes and colors on the nail.

Nail fungi may visually resemble structural disorders of the nail, as well as symptoms caused by trauma to the nail or finger or a different disease. As the nail fungus progresses, the nail thickens and its shape deteriorates. In some cases, pain may be felt, especially in areas close to the nail bed. The fungus can progress to the nail root and become permanent.

Nail fungi can occur for the following reasons:

* Nail damage, pressure and traumas,
• Wearing narrow and pointed shoes that pinch the fingers,
* Common areas such as changing rooms, swimming pool and shower,
• Wearing the same shoes on top of each other,
* Manicure and pedicure performed in an unhygienic environment with instruments that have not been sterilized,
* Stepping on the ground with bare feet,
* Humid environment caused by excessive sweating of the feet.
For the treatment of nail fungus, the thickening layer on the nail is cleaned with the help of devices. After the fungal tissue is completely cleaned, healthy nail tissue appears. The nail surface is coated with a special gel to protect both a healthy nail and to ensure a healthy image. December maintenance of the fungal area is carried out at regular intervals and the gel is renewed. The fungus that has progressed to the root of the nail, which occurs in this way, can be treated depending on the process of growing a healthy nail.

To prevent fungal formation, potential causes should be eliminated, hygiene should be maintained, feet should always be clean and dry, sandals should be worn in shared areas such as pools, showers, and saunas, toenails should be trimmed correctly (straight across, with rounded corners and not extending beyond the tip of the toe), pedicures should be done at foot health care centers, comfortable shoes without pointed tips should be worn, if feet sweat excessively, balancing antifungal foot cream, powder, and preventive nail polish should be used, socks should be 100% cotton and clean, and if sweating occurs, they should be changed frequently.

Although the number of sessions varies depending on the condition of foot or nail fungus, it can be said that it is completed within an average of 4-6 sessions. The sessions can last up to 3-5 weeks.
