LIP AUGMENTATIONLips should be aesthetically proportional to the face
Excessive augmentation of the lips impairs the facial proportions. When viewed from the side, the lips may appear thinner than they appear from the front. There must be a ratio between the lower and upper lips. This ratio should also be seen on the whole face. Creating and protecting such ratio provides the face with a natural beauty and attractiveness.

The area between the mid-point of the upper lip and the corresponding zone of the lower lip is called as the heart of the lips. If the contours of this zone are modified by filler injection, the lips will look attractive and fleshy. Though the lips lose volume and become thinner with increasing age, the lip augmentation restores the efficiency of the lips with fillers.

Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are effective not only in shaping and moisturizing the lips, but also boost the volume. Lip augmentation is a simple procedure that lasts for only 10-15 minutes. An anesthetic cream is applied to the lips before the procedure, and the fillers are injected into the lip by ultrathin needles or cannula.

Aging of lips
The aging causes the lips become thinner and lose their volume. Thus, the heart shape of the lips disappears, as the person ages. Moreover, the loss of collagen is associated by the loss of hyaluronic acid – a substance naturally found in the lips. You can also notice that your upper lip begins sagging on your lower lip.

The aging results in sagging of the upper lip. When the orientation of the lips changes, thin vertical lines appear between the lower margin of the nose and the upper lip. The volume loss may also be seen at the location between the mid-point of the upper lip and the lower margin of the nose. However, fillers can create a voluminous look by rounding the contours of the lip. Furthermore, the loss of volume is restored.

Wrinkles around the mouth
Collagen is necessary not only for volume and contours, but also for prevention of the wrinkles caused by the deficiency of collagen and elastin, harmful solar rays, smoking, aging or genetic factors. Irrespective of the reason, the lips that lose the natural texture and shape will result in wrinkles. The filler substances are also used in treatment of the lines around the mouth. Furthermore, additional treatments combined with vitamin injections, Botox and laser can be applied.

Are Effects of Lip Augmentation Long-lasting?
The results can be seen right after the procedure, and the change can be immediately noticed. The effects of the hyaluronic acid-based fillers are not long lasting. The duration of the effects depends on certain factors, such as age, lip structure, elasticity as well as characteristics, amount and quality of the filling substances injected into the lips. The hyaluronic acid-based fillers should be re-injected to the lips at intervals of 9 months or 1 year.
