TREATMENT OF WRINKLSE AND EYEBROW LIFT WITH BOTOXBotox is the most common method used to eliminate wrinkles that are caused by the movement of the commonly used muscles. This is a protein-based medicine and it relaxes the muscles by temporarily stopping the nerve conduction which signals the muscle movements. The effect is based on lesser contraction of the muscles at the injection site. There is no effect on the muscles of other body parts.

Use of the facial muscles that shape our facial expression for many years lead to formation of wrinkles. It is possible to reduce wrinkles by relaxing these muscles. Botox prevents wrinkle formation when administered at appropriate intervals. It is possible to prevent everlasting lines that are caused by facial expressions, if the therapy is started in the early phase.

Botox is used for the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes, on the forehead and between the eyebrows as well as in the neck and around the mouth, correction of the facial asymmetry, the eyebrow lift and the treatment of the drooping of the eyelid.

The preliminary effects of the therapy start to become apparent 3 - 4 days later and the full effect can be noticed 10 days after the procedure. The duration of the effects depends on the personal characteristics. Mostly, the effect of the medicine gradually decreases within 4 to 6 months and the muscle contractions initiate again.

After the Botox is administered, there may be redness, temporary bruises, and edema which disappear in a short span of time. Occasionally, there may be temporary bruises at the target area for several days. Aspirin, blood thinners, painkillers, gingko, ginseng and vitamin C increase the risk of bruising after the injection. If possible, it is reasonable to stop taking these medicines for 5-7 days before the treatment. Temporary asymmetry or drooping of the eyelid is faced rarely, when the injection affects the adjacent muscles. Such side effects can regress within 1 month. Botox is contraindicated for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and persons with muscle disorders.

Botox is a treatment that helps elimination of wrinkles without creating an artificial look by allowing the use of facial expressions, when the appropriate doses are administered to the appropriate injection areas by a physician.
